Housing adaptions?

My dd is 4 and has cp, she is very heavy, our main struggle is bathtime.
A few months ago i tore the muscles in the bottom of my spine lifting her and ended up in hospital sedated and on very strong painkillers because of the pain i was in, i couldn't physically walk for 2 days.

It would be ideal if we could get a hoist for her and a decent bath seat to support her in the bath as i also have to support her whilst she is in the bath.
The only problem is we live in a tiny 2 bedroom flat (council will NOT rehouse us) so i doubt we could get a hoist especially a track one and we have no room to store a portable on with 4 of us living here and no storage space.

I was just looking to get any opinions before i contact my dd's physio etc as to weather we could have a track hoist fitted in a flat (we are ground floor).

I would personally cut out the middle man and refer yourselves straight to the Social Services Occupational Therapy Dept. They should come out do a home visit and assess your needs. It is a very long winded system though!

Good luck

We've been on the ss ot waiting list for 6 months now and not heard a thing back, i have rung them a few times and i just get told there is a waiting list.

council say before they rehouse us my dd needs to be permanently in a wheelchair and living on the top floor before they will even consider moving us, even though all her dr's physio, ot, salt etc have written to them saying we should not be living in this flat, ggggrrrr bloody bristol council!!!!

Thanks for the info riven, will look into it all except our local mp, he's a complete and utter tosspot to put it politely, we asked him to look into our case for moving, then he looked at my dd and said i thought you said she is disabled, she can move .

Been on the rehousing list for 3 years, filed out countless medical forms and even had a woman come out to assess dd and her needs and said we dont need to move, she was only a nurse who worked with the elderly and didn't even know what cp was until i explained it and she said "oh it's got a much nicer name these days than when i was young". So we are not even classed as priority and we've been fighting them for 3 years.

NHS ot is generally pretty good but she's not too sure if the bath seat she has in mind will fit in our bath as it's quite a small bath, so is umming and ahhing over which seat will be suitable, last i hear was she was looking at the manatee seat.
