I have mentioned this many times on MN. I think it is a lovely product but I haven't actually managed to use it with DS!! When we first got it he wouldn't wear headphones, now he will I haven't got round to it. I've been busy with DD but now she is 4 and going to school properly in Sept this is the sort of thing I want to get going on, as well as overhauling his PECs. I think it is much more user-friendly than formal AIT and much less controversial, plus you can use it over and over again and on different people, even yourself! It is a bit pricey but compares very well to the cost of AIT and is yours to keep forever! HTH

Thanks Davros (you know who I am don't you???)
I just can't find a price for the classic kit as apparently the OT has all the other stuff I need. Would be ideal to start now as can do over summer hols!

The OT has suggested this for my dd too. I have seen it for £286 on some UK site. PLus about £50 for a set of recommended headphones.

frascati · 07/07/2007 22:21

thanks emma but that's coming up not found!

Hi, just go to www.soundtherapy.co.uk, it is listed at top of home page

Davros · 08/07/2007 13:07

It seems expensive but I think it is worth it for the reasons I've mentioned. I always thought formal AIT sounds terrifying and very likely to turn into a total farce with DS and waste of money!! Frascati.... No, I don't know who you are but now I am wondering......

frascati · 08/07/2007 17:31

We have met a few times

Does anyone know how you can access this programme without spending upwards of £300?

staryeyed · 28/03/2008 11:22

If it can be used over I wonder if people would be interested in sharing?

sphil · 28/03/2008 14:07

I would!

staryeyed · 28/03/2008 14:32

me too!

silverfrog · 28/03/2008 16:42

Would definitely be up for sharing

sphil · 28/03/2008 17:25

Is there a way of sneakily copying more than one set of people using the CDs at once, or would we all have to take turns? I think it's a brilliant idea! I thought you always had to purchase it with a consulation though.

sphil · 28/03/2008 17:26

'Sneakily copying' was supposed to be crossed out! Bah!

staryeyed · 28/03/2008 17:31

Sphil what are you suggesting? It cant be that hard to use surely?

sphil · 28/03/2008 18:21

I'm sure it's not, but I just thought that as a product it's tied to registered providers - ie. way of making more money.

Mind you, have you read Blossomhill's reply on the other thread? Has put me off a bit. Need to hear some positive feedback but I don't think I've ever read on anything on here where someone's actually used it and found it's made a significant difference.

staryeyed · 28/03/2008 20:06

yeah me too but I guess not everything is suitable for every child. Ive heard a lot more about AIT than the listening programme.

Davros · 28/03/2008 20:32

I think its a nice product and, of course, it can be used over and over on the same person or you can try it yourself or on other family members. So the £ can work out better than it seems. BUT, have to agree, don't know of any great successes. Maybe better than going down full AIT route though which scares me.

Was an expensive mistake for my dd

missionimpossible · 17/01/2009 09:41

I was also looking into this for DS aged 6 dx ADHD, but a few studies put me off - this one in particular dated 2003:-

S orry, can't do links.

missionimpossible · 17/01/2009 09:42

I meant AIT - sorry didn't mean listening programme ...

Blossomhill · 17/01/2009 11:00

Podrick me too We had hell using this and I would strongly suggest to anyone (I was frascati by the way) not to! It took my dd a year and more to get over the effects.
The new OT said it is too powerful for children like dd and we are now looking into theraputic listening (although I am so scared as the affects we had with dd were awful )

Podrick what happened with your dd?

Podrick · 17/01/2009 16:33

Hi Blossomhill, sorry to hear it was no good for your dd either . My dd had a marked negative reaction and become very upset, stressed and tearful. Is this the kind of reaction that happened for your dd? My therapist said it was the wrong programme for her and that Samonas would be better but I don't have a spare £400 and in any case there are no guarentees of any success...as background my dd has an auditory processing disorder and is dyslexic.
