It's possible, just not that common.

Have shouted for you on the sn meet up thread.

fio2 · 07/09/2004 17:10

so i should stop worrying?

dh seems to think its normal and has told me off Grin

she doesnt clean her teeth very well either but they dont look rotten but maybe they are a bit? and thats why its fell out early. I guess if shes swallowed it, it will come out the other end

oh no shes not a baby anymore Sad

I just had this really sickening thought that she was ageing prematurely Sad

Doubt it. HAs she ever knocked it? It may have come loose from previous bumps, so fallen out early. Mine have all done that, apart form ds2, and that's only because he can't walk!

Have you got a sn dentist, or any dentist? Give them a call if you are worried, but I am sure it's ok.

tamum · 07/09/2004 17:18

I'm sure it's fine- dd lost her first tooth at just 6, but lots of children in her class had already lost at least one and she's one of the older ones. It's a bit early but not that uncommon, honest!

lou33 · 07/09/2004 17:23

We need to shout for Jasper.

JASPER!!!!!!!!

fio2 · 07/09/2004 17:32

she did see a dentist at school about 6 months ago and he said she was fine so.......I suppose its okay?

She just took so long to get her teeth (I think 11 months for the first one) so it doesnt seem that long ago, although it is isnt it really? its just i havent noticed

My dd lost her first tooth at that age. One of her class lost one at 4!

hmb · 07/09/2004 17:39

Oh and that isn't a boast btw! Don't worry!

fio2 · 07/09/2004 17:40

hmb, boasting on my worrying thread! how dare you!!! Wink

And I bet I worry more than you do

meea · 07/09/2004 17:55

My daughter lost here first one when she was just 5 and had her adult tooth completely through 2 days later.

blossomhill · 07/09/2004 19:14

Don't worry Fio dd lost her 2nd bottom tooth the day after her fifth birthday last week and had lost the 1st a few weeks before. I think it's a common age TBH.

slightlymad · 07/09/2004 22:03

If it helps....my friends daughter AND son both lost their 1st tooth when they were aged 4! I think it depends on the child?
My daughter is absolutely DESPERATE to loose a tooth and she's just gone 6 - no sign of a wobble yet i'm afraid! LOL!

dottee · 07/09/2004 22:17

Fio2 - my dd has swallowed most of her loose teeth as far as I know. I've only got 3 of them and the rest have gone AWOL. I thought she'd swallowed an upper molar a few weeks ago but mum found it on her bedroom floor. Dd must have just reached in, pulled it out and thrown it on the floor!!!

Five's normal - dd started loosing hers about that age. She's 12 now.

binkie · 07/09/2004 22:38

I'm sure it's normal - ds lost his first shortly before 5, then second just after. If you think of reception kids, they've all got gaps.

As to where it might be: for ds's second I have a lovely letter "dear tooht fiary I am sory but I did ate my tooth"
