Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Is it just my child or does anyone else's do this?!

We had an OT assessment at DD2s new pre-school nursery this morning - well she has been there since March (mainstream with amazing SN support) but OT is only just pulling her finger out...

Anyway DD2 was a right pain in the bum, didn't co-operate AT ALL and just minxed around. I know she is more than capable of threading chunky beads, putting pegs in holes etc (spent blimmin yonks doing it in Portage!) but this morning you wouldn't have known it LOL

I know children aren't automatons that perform on demand but I wish she'd have shown off some of her hard-learned skills

DS2 NEVER used to cooperate at all in 'test' situations - used to drive me mad! He's a bit better now (he's 4.8) but still seems to have a sixth sense about when he's expected to 'perform'. For example, he'll do lots of stuff for me if we're on our own, but if someone starts watching us he'll stop or become obviously self-conscious.

oh yes, DS at his eye appointments, deciding to be completely uncooperative and name basic objects like duck/car etc.
