DS2 had a review with his consultant today, she went back over his notes & reports from the multi assessment at the CDC.
CDC have said ds2 does not fit all of the criteria for dx of autism but said he has OCD & anxiety disorder.
PAED today said she was not happy with this, she feels because he has such extreme obsessive compulsive behaviour & extreme anxiety but is able to communicate reasonably well with adults on a 1 to1 assessment they are not seeing how poor his social skills are.
Anyway she is sending him back for more assessments & a second opinion.
She is always completely honest (in fact very blunt) which I like & said in her opinion he is autistic.
She also feels it is essential to get the correct diagnostic label to ensure he gets all the support he needs.

So back to the start again.. more assessments!

Oh no, another round of appointments. Does sound like the paed is trying her utmost for DS2. How do you feel about it?

Oh gosh-she's right though- stacks more help for autism vs OCD.

I am very grateful for her support & she said she won't allow him to go on the waiting list as he is nearly 5 & the cdc won't look at him again after his 5th birthday, so in one respect i'm pleased.
But I don't really feel emotional about it at all which is strange, i've got to the stage that i don't care what name/label they apply as long as the support is there if needed.
He has just finished 5 months of OT (for CP) & his OT also wanted to refer him back to the psych but the paed hasn't had a report from OT yet.
At least their support stops me feeling like a neurotic mother

gess wouldn't it be good if they just offered support based on the problems a child has rather than treating the diagnosis/label.
Or is common sense too much to ask for on the nhs
I think thats what the paed was telling me.. he really needs the dx to access support.
