Hi all ..I haven't been on here for a long time as my DS is now 20 but still in last year of college ( previously in resi special school for sli and severe auditory memory ,I have posts on here from his struggles )....well he passed his theory test 1st time 3months ago and just passed his driving test 1st time also !!!!...AND he has just got his first part time job, he finds maths/money so so hard so couldn't get 'till/checkout' work ,struggles with lots of info at one time so waiter work was also out, he is unable to advocate for himself in an interview situation as witnessed when he applied for royal mail :( ...but we have got where we want to be atm...the schooling he had helped him enormously in his confidence .It was a huge decision to send him to a residential school but one that we did not hesitate..just wanted to share with people who would understand:)

Congratulations to your DS. That is such an achievement for him and one that will give him such independence. There are many 20yr olds who can’t hold down a job, any job and haven’t yet passed driving tests and have no SN!

I actually welled up as the test and job happened within days of each other ...thank you
