DD / ECHP and LSP plans very vague

Hello,

My DD aged 6 has dyspraxia and has difficulties with communication too (is on waiting list for clinics). She's such fun but can't write yet, is impulsive and has to repeat work. We got an EHCP for her this year, she goes to a very good local state school and they have been supportive with my continual involvement!

However, it has been a frustrating journey with the school, I feel like I always have to be on there case and this isn't my natural style. We have the EHCP but it is so overloaded with stuff I said it would be difficult to follow, the SENCO at school said it would be refined in the LSP plan in terms of time / level of teacher / specified support. When I received the LSP it is even more vague than last years!

Has anyone experience of this - I'm not sure how much to press this or just wait and see what happens this year. I assume the school are doing this as they don't want to be tied down?

Press it! SEN code of practice says EHCP should be specified and quantified.
Vague does not help your daughter and gives school and/it LA wiggle room.
Get it nailed down.
I speak from bitter experience

Your local IASS may be able to help you.

How long ago was the EHCP issued? If it was within the last two months you can appeal against its contents to try to get it tightened up. Alternatively you could do that after an annual review.
