worried about later!

I really thought i was ok with this Echo and ECG thing but i have found myself today so worried that they are going to turn round and say they have found something wrong with Cameron. I really dont know what i would do if something else is thrown at me. Poor little love has had enough with all the blood tests.

Also we are finally getting our new baby visit from the health visitor tomorrow (you know the one they normally get at 11 days old!) not bad she is only 10 days late!!! and now he has missed the baby clinic so didn't get weighed this week. I would of thought that she would know that he needs his visit earlier so as i can get his weight checked as they have told me how important that is.

I hope she is on time meant to be with us at 9.30am and Camerons appointment is at 11.45am.

On top of all that Dh has started worrying about our 22 months old DS Callums speach and reckons there is something wrong because he only says Hello, Who is it?, whats that?, Dad, Mum, Nan, Bub, Yeah, Gone and Come. I think that is a reasonable vocabulary i know some children are fluent at his age but lots aren't. Do you think i should be worried?

Love Debbie xxxx

when the HV came to see dd after her new baby visit - dd was over three weeks old. She had scales with her to weigh dd. Hopefully that is what your HV will do.

You know that there are plenty of people here to give you support whatever the outcome after Cameron's appt. Will be thinking of you tomorrow ( your time) Remember you also have those support groups that others have posted links for - they really are sooo helpful..

I think for now - focus on one thing at a time. You could just mention it to the HV - depending on how good or not you think she is..... - about your Callum's speech.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Debsbabe - can't do a long post but just wanted to say that I know of at least 2 22 month olds who don't seem to have much/any more vocabulary than you suggest your ds has. you are right, children vary so much at that age. also, the speech your ds does have shows recognition and curiosity.

eidsvold is right - just focus on one thing at the moment. I really wouldn't worry about the speech thing.

Good luck with the tests [fingers crossed emoticon].

Good luck today Debs. Fingers crossed, everything will be fine. Agree with taking one thing at a time, lots of small steps will get you there just as quick and a whole lot saner

Fio2 · 02/09/2004 09:49

Debbie sending you lots of virtual support. Of course you are worrying, it is a worrying time.

As for ds1 speech, it sounds fine to me Smile

lou33 · 02/09/2004 11:46

Good luck with the echo Deb.

Callum sounds as though his speech is coming along nicely. Dd2 , now 7 1/2, could only say mama and dada at the age of 2, was referred to speech therapy, and now talks incessantly, although she does have some trouble with certain sounds.

debs, hope everything went well today.... please let us know! finger & toes crossed for you & cameron

Hi Girls

well the Echo went well Cameron has no stuctual problems with his heart although she was a little concerned about the bpm he raged between 60 and 70 with the occasional raise to 100bpm. but when they put him on the ECG all was fine. they sent us down to the KIM unit (a childrens outpatient dept) to see a doctor but he said all was fine. so it seems Cameron has the all clear where his heart is concerned.

HV came on time and she was really nice and she did bring her scales with her. guess how much Cameron weighs??? last wednesday he was 6Ibs 15ozs 8 days later (today) he weighs 7Ibs 10ozs and has grown from 48cm in length at birth to 50 1/2 cms today. he has been busy while he has been sleeping!

She said Callums speach seems fine to her but she said they will check again at his 2 year check.

Cameron has to have another thyroid test in 2 weeks as his last was just within normal limits edging on borderline so they want more blood from him then.

He wont let anyone other than me hold his hand now, i think he thinks they are going to stick him with a needle so he pulls away (Poor little love!)

Love Debbie and Cameron 3 weeks today xxxx

Am really pleased for you Deb

geekgrrl · 03/09/2004 06:16

phew debs what a relief, I'm so pleased for you all. Sounds like Cameron is in great shape! His weight gain is just fantastic. Good news about Callum's speech, too. I don't think my older daughter was saying more than that at his age and now at 5 her speech is constant and varied.

luckymum · 03/09/2004 08:25

Debs, brilliant news, go Cameron!!

Dingle · 03/09/2004 10:03

Oh dear, I seem so emotional today, all this good news, and I'm sitting here almost in tears!!
I am so pleased for you, another hurdle over.
After the waiting it must be a great feeling to know everything seems OK.
Big hugs to you all.

Debsbabe · 03/09/2004 16:41

I cant tell you how relieved i am that the Echo went so well, i had nightmares that they were going to find something majorly wrong with his heart. so phew!

Thanks for all the suport you have all shown me, you all are truely a fantastic bunch.

One hurdle over with and on to the next i suppose all though the hurdle are seeming smaller once we cleared the heart hurdle!

anyway i am babbling now

Love to you all and to all your special ones!

Love Debbie and Cameron xxxx

What good news Debsbabe. Really happy for you and your family

eidsvold · 05/09/2004 11:34

glad to hear all went well... know what you mean about hands... when dd had to have blood tests prior to her surgery - the minute they put her hand in the position she got worked up after having so many tests whilst in SCBU

but sooo glad to hear all is well with his heart
