No, we’re not in London.

I need to look at options. It’s not like we want to go out a lot but I think once a month or so would be nice.

OP posts:
openupmyeagereyes · 01/05/2019 16:48

Though we are usually to tired to go out very late in the evening Grin

OP posts:
openupmyeagereyes · 01/05/2019 16:52

Open I think what we should do is..

you have my ds one weekend then I'll have yours the next, they will get on great the pair of night owls!! Lol.

Liv sorry to hear about ds' hand, hope it's ok today, easily done, you need eyes up your arse don't you.

dimples76 · 01/05/2019 17:39

I have only left DS with a sitter once - that was because it was my cousin's hen do and all my family babysitters were going out too. It was someone who worked at DS's nursery who was trying to make some extra money unfortunately (for me) she is now a Mum so doesn't do babysitting any more. That did work well as DS knew her and I trusted her. I was hoping that I could get one of the six-formers in the street to come around for a couple of hours after DS was asleep once a week so I could go swimming/exercise class but I do feel nervous about that.

Welcome Lottie

When I went to collect DS for an appointment today a massive crowd of children ran across the playground shouting 'it's DS's Mum' and asking to come out with DS and me!

openupmyeagereyes · 01/05/2019 20:03

Ha ha danni, can you imagine?

dimples I’m jealous of all your family babysitters. It must be wonderful. What a lovely greeting for you at school today Smile

danni massive progress on the toilet training, all credit to you. Hopefully he’ll stop putting his foot in the toilet soon!

liv it must have been a scary moment with the pan. I hope the burn isn’t too bad and that he’s forgotten about the ice pack.

We have the speech therapist coming tomorrow. I’m really not sure that we’re getting very much out of it. I guess I’m not quite sure what ideally she should be working on with him at this point. There’s no real guidebook is there.

Ds awake since 2:30 despite melatonin. Gah. I took the first two hours in his bedroom trying to get him back to sleep, dh took the next two downstairs while I went back to bed. Poor ds, he’s going to be so tired later.

Open have you applied for dla yet? You really should.

Your ds meets the criteria for high rate care 100% with his night wakings. X

openupmyeagereyes · 02/05/2019 12:29

He has fallen asleep at school, poor boy. They are going to let him sleep for a while.

danni I have downloaded the form and started to fill it out.

dimples76 · 02/05/2019 18:49

Good luck Open - it's such a long and depressing form but worth it. DS's has been confirmed until 2024 do quite a while now til I need to tackle that task.

Danni well done with the toilet training. Things have all gone to pot here with that - we're seeing the paediatrician next month (or at least I hope that we are -it's been postponed five times) so I'm going to ask for referral. DS turns 6 next month -which is making things seem worse to me.

danni0509 · 02/05/2019 19:11

Dimples we renewed recently and ds' runs out a week before his 12 I think it is, so a few years off reapplying as you say, which is a bit of peace of mind at least.

Sorry to hear about toileting, ds has been deliberately weeing and poohing on the floor when his being defiant which is most of the time so fun and games here too, the state of his bedroom carpet last night I could of cried. It took me 25 minutes to get his bedtime nappy and pyjamas on after his bath and the whole time he was weeing on the floor on purpose, i don't know how he kept producing it!

Will you be asking for a referral to the continence team?

Open good good. You should definitely be receiving it, it will make life a little easier for you and you can amazon shop for ds guilt free lol. I'm sure you've read all about it but be very descriptive and write more pages and include every scrap of report you can. If I remember rightly your not working are you? Or do you work from home? Sorry I cannot remember exactly, well you can claim carers allowance too if your own income is below £120 ish a week. Also tax credits you can claim the disabled element too. So all really useful to have. X

dimples76 · 02/05/2019 21:53

Yes, that’s what I meant, Danni - don’t think that they’ll have any magical solutions but it would be good to have some fresh ideas because I’m stumped

openupmyeagereyes · 03/05/2019 05:59

dimples I hope the continence team can help, he was doing so well before school too.

danni no, I’m not working so in theory I have plenty of time to get it done. I’ve got the Cerebra guide saved in iBooks somewhere so I’ll use that. I hope your bedtime went more smoothly last night.

A ‘better’ night here, awake about 4:40 though he lay in his bed until just after 5. Hopefully school will be ok today. I’m glad he’s got 3 days off coming up.

I ordered a weighted blanket last night. We’ll see if it helps.

OP posts:
livpotter · 03/05/2019 07:08

I hope you do manage to get to see the peas dimples.

Glad you had a better night open, I hope the weighted blanket works.

Doing the DLA form is pretty bleak. I read a good tip the other day, which I will definitely do when we next renew. Is to write the answer to each long question on word (or whatever programme you use). Print it out and stick it onto the form. That way when you come to renew you can just edit each answer, print out and stick again. Also make sure you make a copy of the form once it's finished in case it gets lost in the post. Our next renewal isn't until 2121 phew!

livpotter · 03/05/2019 07:14

ds's finger seems ok. We have substituted the ice pack for a peppa pig plaster. Last time he needed a plaster for something we had to keep putting a plaster on for 4 months (even after it was healed)! I wonder how long he will need it this time. I should probably get some more plasters.

openupmyeagereyes · 03/05/2019 07:30

I’ve downloaded an interactive pdf and am typing directly into that so all the data should save.

liv 4 months is hard core plaster usage. Definitely stock up on a lot of Peppa Pig plasters (incase nothing else will do). Ds fell over on the way to school on Wednesday. He has the smallest mark on his palm and knee but has refused to bathe since (so the plasters don’t get wet) and will only wash one hand so I have to use a wipe on the other one. I don’t mind a couple of days without a bath but tonight he’ll be going in the bath or shower regardless.

OP posts:
livpotter · 03/05/2019 07:36

That sounds like something ds would do!

dimples76 · 03/05/2019 09:38

My DS won't tolerate plasters at all!

That's the thing Liv he was very good at using the toilet before he started school (after a year of training). Now it feels like back to square one - I know, it isn't but I just don't know what to do. We have gone:

Last April - September no accidents
September- November accidents at school and home
December-February accidents only at school
March ......Accidents in and outside school

I think I need a little break so I've taken the afternoon off to meet a friend for lunch (and wine)

openupmyeagereyes · 03/05/2019 11:58

That sounds lovely dimples, and well deserved. Enjoy Wine

Open: Ive been working on the DLA form for a couple of weeks now. Trying to stick to all the advice on how to fill it in and - as advised - it is awful to do from an emotional wrench point of view.
My DD has been going through a phase of putting all sorts of things in her mouth again, like when kids are tiny? She had a leaf on the go yesterday and today has been really noticeably mouthing things. She licks things too, like metal railings,(🤢) if the mood takes her. She doesn't seem to comprehend "no" on this...

livpotter · 04/05/2019 06:34

My ds is the same furrycat. Constantly has something in his mouth or is licking anything and everything. A lot of the mouth things I substitute for chewlery but I have no idea how to stop the licking. I think the sensory urge is just all encompassing for him.

Apparently one of my husband's family members used to pick up and eat cigarette butt from the ground. I count myself lucky ds isn't doing that!

openupmyeagereyes · 04/05/2019 09:19

liv thank god you are spared that! A boy in my ds’s class has pica and eats all manner of wood and plastic yet is very picky with food. It really makes no sense to me. Ds doesn’t eat non food stuff, thankfully. He went through a phase at around two of picking bits off our wool rugs and keeping them in his mouth. He also would pick up bits of fluff and toss them in his hair. The mind boggles!

Furry I haven’t got to the emotional bits yet, I’m still on the first section about professional input and such like. I’ll brace myself for what’s to come.

Apparently ds had an excellent day yesterday. Nice to end the week on a high. We had a decent night again too.
