I think it's any but I'm not sure.
Ds gets middle rate care and I get the extra. Tax people never asked which rate.

lower and middle rate give you the disability premium tax increase but then higher rate dla gives you another extra tax payment called a severe disability premium.

yes you get about an extra 1k

remember to tell them if the DLA ever changes

we didnt realise about the Higher/Middle DLA thing changed your tax credits....still paying for it 2 years later!

Yes, when ds1 was getting middle-rate care we got extra tax credits. When his DLA was changed to higher-rate I was told that we would now get even more tax credits.

Child tax credit? IME it depends on how much you earn and what rax credit you are already getting. I notified them about DS's middle rate DLa and they said it would change our tax credit but it made no difference. And filling in the annual return on the phone with them at the weekend they confirmed that my carer's allowance is a 'taxable benefit' so counts as income....so am waiting for the tax credits to reduce now!
So, don't know what your situation is, but they seem to make it as complicated and confusing as possible.

I think it's the higher rate for self-help/care rather than mobility that is the important one for tax credits
