...when ds1 does his science exam (age 13) next week...he is to do it in the 'Learning Support Centre" (away from noise/distractions?) and will have a 'Familiar TA' who will SCRIBE for him!

So pleased that at last something ius being offered to him.

He's got ADHD/AS and is not statemented.

He was refusing school last few months...managing to get him to attend 9-1...but he was coming home most days at lunch very anxious etc.

Then the bully got worse- people mocking his facial expressions - mocking his monotone flat voice....and i then had a long chat with the Pastoral Officer at the school. She spoke on my behalf to the year head...who called me in for a chat...

Long story short....she tried to tell me that he's 'so achedemically able" blah Blah Blah etc....so i showed her his schhol work - she agreed that it was clear he was struggling to record work indepenndantly...suggested i see SENCO (i actually laughed then...as we've spoken to the senco so much and sweet F.A got done that we had given up)

...and she immediatly sggested we deal immediately with his obvious unhappiness by allowing him to choose a new tutor group to move to- which he was absolutely THRILLED to do...and for 2 weeks he has been SO HAPPY!!!!

She then said to leave 'it with her'...and she would look into his writing difficulties etc....SHE said SHE would speak to the SENCO etc.

So...now 2 weeks later he has a scribe in place.

Ok ...not permanent...but she did listen to me...she has acted...and HE IS HAPPY!

So now i feel able to focus on DS2 who has AS and is due to start at that school in 18 months...and i have decided to request an assessment for possible statement.

I just felt so overwhelmed with DS1 being so unhappy...Ds2 with secondary school looming...and couldn't decide which i should prioritise!
(then theres DS3 whom is gradually demostating quite nicely that he too is on the spectrum...and at 8 is at the point where school are finally agreeing that he does need extra support- and I am about to reffer him to paed)

Wow - great news!
So good to hear of situations where children are being properly supported in school.
I hope things continue to get better and better for your DS.

thanks!

I cannot explain the relief I feel that i am not continually clock watching...as i was doing...in that i'd be constantly expecting him to 'appear' during the day...we only live 2 minutes walk from the school- so very easy for him to 'sneak' home!

Now...i'm starting to feel he goes out the door at 8.35...and stays at school till 3 - only coming home at ....HOME TIME!!!!!
