Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Our campaigning has worked and the LEA is not going to close down our units

You may remember I mentioned on another thread a few weeks ago that the LEA had a "strong recommendation" to close down Ds2's unit and another similar one which are the only 2 remaining in the county. After much protest and campaigning from parents they have sent out a letter to say that they are now going to work with the schools to keep the units open and look at SEN provision across the county in conjunction with parents and someone from the NAS! Very pleased and also (although loathed to admit it ) slightly impressed that the Deputy Chief Executive person who made the decision actually listened to the parents and is trying to develop a special needs policy that works.

It doesn't actually affect Ds2 who moves to full special school in September anyway but I am still really pleased because the units are really great and the teachers are lovely.

That's fantastic Saker.
Parents need to be fully alert to myriad money cutting exercises off education depts all the time.
Trust noone (and I speak as one who is part of the system.)
