So I started on Friday and it hasn't been that bad in terms of changing foods and things. He seemed to slightly improve in terms of awareness of his surroundings and even started saying new words which is amazing considering he has only being saying dadaddada and gogogog for about a month.

Only his eye contact that had improved with fish oils has now tailed off and is not good. Since yesterday he has started having tantrums about the slightest thing when usually he is very good (not placid just good tempered). He screamed his way around the supermarket something he hasn't really done before. That is the only really noticeable change that we can attribute to the change in diet. Is this normal? I know its supposed to get worse before it gets better if it is going to work but right now its one day on one day off. Any experience of CF to share?.

I've no experience with this but iirc the idea is that the body is addicted to casein and needs to be detoxed off it before you start to see positive effects. I do hvae experience of recovery from drug addiction (not my own I worked in a rehab) and it wasn't uncommon for those in very early recovery to be up and dwon.

Its withdrawal.
Casein takes about 3 days to leave the body so as of monday and for a couple of weeks yet I'm afraid, but its worth it...

theres a strong chance by the way that if your childs Casein intolernt,he'll be gluten intolerant too and will increase his eating of tings containing that to cary on getting his fix

Removing gluten isn't any trickier then removing casein and one you adjust its really not THAT much of a faff.

DS had terrible tantrums when we withdrew casein. he also got black circles round his eyes and lots of phlegm. he also seemed to crave dairy products for a while.
we then went on to withdraw gluten, but there were few obvious signs with that.
hth.

yep - its withdrawal.
Good time to keep an eye out for anything else he tries to replicate "fix" with so you know if gluten or anything else is also likely to be a prob. I removed both at once and caught sad and desperate son eating toothpaste.....
