Children with CP overdoing it! How can I stop him?

DS has had a really bad weekend with pain and stiffness, on saturday he collaped and couldn't walk so was crawling about. He has been dragging his left foot and barely bending his knee. On friday he had a Physio session within the hospital with about 4 other kids, it lasted an hour and he done a lot, he even did 140mts on the
threadmill. I spoke to someone at GOS on sat. who didn't think it would be related to the Botox (which I was worried about) and when I
spoke to DS physio this morning, she thinks its likely that he did too much on friday, now my question is how can I stop him
overdoing things? I have no idea what his limit is before he gets pain, I don't let him walk far for this reason, but he also needs to build up his muscles.
Thanks

Blimey Mieow, how is he feeling today? 140m sounds like a lot of exercise on it's own, let alone combined with more physio. Ds2 has an hour session every week with his pt, but she will shorten it if she can see he is over exerting himself, in pain, unwilling to participate. I don't understand, if the physio thought he was doing too much, why she didn't end his session early?

This is the sort of thing that I know we will be facing, and I have no idea how to combat it. Atm we have a bit if it with his wheelchair. We have been told by physio not to let him push himself if fpossible, because the wheeling action tightens his lower body too much, and affects his legs, but he has learned how to take the brakes off when we are not looking, and off he goes! It's sweet, but it's also v hard to explain to a 3 1/2 year old why he can't have a bit of independence. It's hard to find the right balance I agree. With the whelchair ds has, he needs it, as he can't stand or walk, but at the same time, it means he isn't getting to use his leg muscles to build them up, so it's a bit if a catch 22 situation.

Sorry, I have been no help at all! I just wanted to reply and say ikwym! Hope he feels better soon.
