Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what is Portage?

Not sure about googles description, but mine would of been:

Portage is a Godsend.

Well they were for me when we were just going through the process of diagnosis with DS.

Helped with PECS, TEACHH, statementing, DLA and DLA appeals, Family Fund, free nappies, school visits and getting special school place.

All that and more, especially greater for all the emotional support we got from both our great portage workers.

Only last week we got a letter through the door from our local portage fundraising group, offering holidays to current and past portage families in a caravan located in Cornwall, that they had purchased through fundraising.

To be honest, I am not sure how we would of coped had it not been for portage and I know try to support them back in any way I can.

Really Graciefer - I think I'm on local portages blacklist they never tell me a anything (not that we can do caravans anyway- escape artist) would like to mention it on the blog though- can you send me details?

PS I'm going on Monday to the school coffee morning to listen to donkey man - can you make it? Would be lovely to actually speak to you!

Actually I have to say I think your portage workers sounded better than mine. What were their intitials again?

Hi Gess,

My first portage worker was called SD, she also ran the step by step nursery that I first attended - she left portage to work elsewhere.

We then got LW who was actually seconded from Milford, this worked well in our favour as we were coming to the end of our time with portage and it helped to provide a smooth transition into school.

I really want to go to the coffee morning on Monday as I am really interested in the Donkey Saturday Club, but I am unsure whether it would be suitable (escaping etc) and would like to discuss my worries.

Unfortunately, we have a checkup with the school doctor at 10.15am that day, so I am hoping that the speaker may still be there after this has finished, as I will stay on for the coffee morning whilst DS and DH go for a drive or something.

I will e-mail you the portage caravan details, or see if I can bring them on Monday.

Hopefully I will see you then, as I wanted to ask you a few questions about SS and direct payments etc.

Trying to think who LW is.... (I don't know anyone's surname! Can think of an L though....)

I completely forgot we have someone coming to start decorating our front room tomorrow so I won't be able to make the coffee morning :-(

I'm going to the first donkey Saturday club though. Has ds been with school yet? DS1 has, and absolutely loved it. He keeps pointing to the Saturday club flyer saying "arhee" (donkey). Someone has to stay with them at the club. I did hear from one of the teachers that it's pretty enclosed anyway so quite good for runners.
