We have been awake since 4:30 - Dd is waking around 4:30-5am most mornings, despite two blinds and blackout curtains. She is on the go straight away. We are exhausted by 9:30 and she makes a lot of mess in the house, flits from one activity to another. Aggressive with a stroppy attitude. She throws objects and just punched me because I didn’t do something fast enough or asked her to tidy for 10 minutes with me first. Also refusing to brush her hair, put clothes on before we move onto next activity.

In an hour I was kicked, punched, told to “shut it”, called an “idiot”.

She is under assessment for ASD/adhd. She knows the plans for the weekend, so we have prepared her.

Our Saturdays/weekends can be a nightmare and all of us exhausted all the time as awake at 1 last night and then 4:30.

How old is your DD?
When you say awake at 1am did she sleep at all before this? My DD is being assessed for ASD and diagnosed ADHD. Sleep is a major issue for her unless I put a really strict blue screen time in place for at least 2 hours before rest time. Not easy with a 14yr old! I went back to her baby routine for a while which did help.

She takes a while to get to sleep but it’s not excessive. It’s the early mornings which are greatly affecting her. Weeks and weeks of 4:30-5am starts and she really needs her sleep. She’s run down and under the weather. We’ve spent all day helping her through the day really today, she’s been in a state.

How old is she? Our non ADHD daughter spent her younger years rising at 5am with no future issues apart from my grey hair and wrinkles!

She’s 7

Bless her, I’m sure you have thought of the basics but just in case, what is her room like in blocking out light & noise and what sleep routine are you using to avoid blue light tv, screens etc? We went back to a portable radio etc.

When our non sn was getting up that early one of us would get up with her and refuse TV, radio, reading, wasn’t a great time but she soon got bored of being taken from her bed to nothing.

You have my sympathies
