Overpayment of Carer's allowance-DWP interview.

Been claiming Carer's allowance for over 6 years now.
Started a part time job last October, explained to my employer that I needed to earn below £116 to still claim CA.I mostly earned under £100 a week but occasionally earned more than £116.I was led to believe that the DWP averaged it out over a month, which would definitely make it below the threshold.
I received letters from CA asking for my wage slips, which I sent in on 2 occasions & never heard anything back & my CA continued to be paid into my account.
Last week I received a letter from the DWP compliance officer for me to attend an interview regarding my benefits.I rang up this morning to enquire what it was about & she said it was because I had earned more than the limit. She said it was not averaged out.I have since been made redundant from my job in June.
Will I be made to pay back the CA for when I earned more than the limit ? As no one informed me of anything different when I sent in my payslips.
Has this happened to anyone else?

They can claim that if you have misunderstood that isn't their fault as long as you were provided the correct info. Who told you it was averaged? If they didn't then again it isn't their fault and yes they can ask for any money that was over payed back.

Am certain there is a criteria where they can average over 5 weeks, thereby taking your average below earnings threshold? I have an interview on 14/09 for benefit review. As I only clain CA it can only be this. I have 'unearned' rental income always understood to be non-qualifying towards CA so will see what they say. First time have been queried on anything. Interestingly cannot seem to see rental income on earnings/unearned earnings definition now where previously it would have been. They want to see payslips, statements and paperwork on second property which is fine. Good luck, am sure there won't be much of an overpayment, if any. Don't back down. Probably some jobsworth maybe doesn't know full rulings or variation.

Yes it should be averaged over 5 weeks.
