Blue badge for autism

Has anyone been successful in getting a blue badge for their asd child? I don’t know if I’ll be wasting my time. My DS’s behaviour is becoming more & more challenging. He has zero awareness of danger. And now he’s getting bigger I’m finding it so difficult to carry him when we’re near busy roads & in car parks. My friend mentioned that he may be entitled to one, when I spoke to my SIL she said I shouldn’t get one because he’s not physically disabled.

What rate DLA mobility does he get?

He doesn’t get mobility as he’s 4 & can physically walk. Although his paediatrician has said he should be able to claim under SMI rule but I’m scared of him losing his entire award.

If you get hrm it’s automatic, if not our council write to the gp for additional evidence. We got one without hrm but my dc also hyper mobility so I sent reports from the paediatrician and physio etc.

We only get LRM but a couple of months back applied for a blue badge for him via the council and was amazed it was awarded with no need for any sort of battle! Has made such a difference
