End of year gifts for teachers and TAs?

Ds has recently started at a specialist school, he has 1 teacher and 4 teaching assistants between his small class. Wondering what everyone else does gift wise at the end of the year and also looking for ideas on what I could get.
thank you for any ideas Smile

Hi I usually get his teacher and class TA vouchers for around 30 pounds each and then they choose what to buy! I find that easiest and prevents unwanted gifts or like 30 best teacher TA mugs!

I am mean and I don't spend anywhere near that much. Actually, only went close one time for a teacher who went absolutely above and beyond. When there are lots of staff involved with the ds's we have instead given something to the school / playgroup for extra books or equipment with a card thanking by name anyone who has helped the ds's. It has been in general very well received.

We make homemade fudge or similar as there are so many people that work with DS. And I got a lovely bunch of flowers for his 1:1 TA who was really touched by them last year.

We get something like a mug, not with best teacher written on it, and fill it with mini toiletries, tea bags or sweeties, stationery and the like. DD makes a personalised card for two teachers and two TAs. We also buy a biscuit selection box for everyone else who’s worked with dd, and another one for taxi driver and escort.

I always do a nice card for the class with a personal message and tend to send in a cake or a big bowl of strawberries and cream. Some parents send individual gifts of wine / chocolates others send something for the class.
The staff room is always full of biscuits and chocolates at the end if term and at christmas

OneInEight that’s a really good idea! I do think I will start that especially as my other child is starting at the school too and won’t be dishing out vouchers on every occasion! Coz then that will mean to give two sets of TA’s and teachers plus I always give the head and the admin team other gifts! I definitely spend a good 300 pounds a year on school gifts!

OneinEight I am in full agreement with you! DS & DD have 10 staff between them and I have not got a clue what to buy. The school is in great need of a swimming pool and I am sorely tempted to donate
150 pounds to the fund and send a thankyou letter to them all.

I normally let ds choose - which means they get his favourite food + a small bottle of wine!

Apart from his preschool year, when I bought them champagne because they were bloody amazing.

This year I haven't got a clue, his teacher is lovely so will get something, but his TA can't stand me, which is awkward to say the least.
