School trousers

This will sound random problem, but my DS has dyspraxia and he falls over so much, hurts his knees all the time. It's so frequent that he is fearful of going to school, anyhow...
I was thinking if I could get him some trousers with padded knees or extra protection in the knees then this may help.
Does anyone know of such a product anywhere?
What is a mum to do?

maybe a rubbish suggestion but you could try sewing something on yourself?

Will he wear knee supports underneath?

The other kids also like to trip them up, because it's so easy, at least that was our experience in primary. Sad

In prep, she still fell, but wasn't pushed or tripped. I made padded inserts for her school trackie bottoms which she wore every breaktime and lunchtime. That was school rules, trackies on over uniform before they went outside.

Put trousers on child, (inside out if you need to) mark position of knee whilst standing, knee whilst sitting, knee whilst kneeling down and best guess for position of knee after a fall. I allowed about 3 or more inches top and bottom of the highest and lowest marks of that, then bought some fleece because it doesn't fray, so is easy to sew.
I made pads of about 3 or 4 thicknesses of fleece, measured to the previous marks tacked them together then sewed them firstly to each side-seam then across the top and bottom of each patch.
All that showed on the front was two rows of stitching.
I did it by hand in an evening as although I have sewing machines, I'm not great at using them.

Alternatively, Aldi etc. sell gardening kneepads or workmens kneepads that you could just make a pocket inside the trouser legs and slip those in. I think they may make fabric trousers hang strangely though and if he falls, they may slip sideways around his legs and not protect his knees.

Thank you for your reply's, I thought I might have to see something, I thought I would check if there was some magic product out there!
Ideally though I need a magic product to stop the falling over!
Thanks for the helpful instruction on sewing in some padding, I will maybe acquire some fleece material or similar.
I think you are right about knee pads making the trousers hang strangely, this maybe more trouble than it's worth, I don't want to draw more attention to something he is already anxious about

I get where you're coming from OP - DD2 at the moment looks like a battered child in terms of the amount of bruises she's rocking all over her knees and arms! (She started the school day off the other day by falling over landing in a flowerpot and I regularly used to get bump notes from nursery with a "we have no idea how she fell over - there was nothing anywhere near her for her to fall over on!" on them)

Thankfully she generally just bounces at least. I don't think I could do anything to adapt things with her - the kids are wary of her anyway so I don't want to mark her out anymore than she is already, and girls' clothing's less forgiving.

Could you just look for the thickest type of school trousers in the shop if you paid a bit more for heavier fabric?

Thanks Bing, I completely know what you mean, I am on the hunt!
It's a hard road though,
Just wish I could fix it for him
