Hello sorry im in a bit of panick mode.
DD had an appointment scheduled for mid August with the development team which seemed quite a while away so I didn't feel as overwhelmed as I do now.
I just had a phone call and her appointments been move forward due to cancellations, to in a week.
I have no idea what to expect is it going to just be like when HV picked at everything she was doing and ill have to say what worries me? 😩

She's started doing better too with communicating she has started to try and point and can sometimes tell me what she wants but I'm still having to play a little bit of word association. So I feel more like because she talks the rest will be overlooked.

What age is your DD? I’m my first appointment with DS(9) I had to give a family history, express my concerns and answer specific questions about DS across the whole range of development. There was a focus on social communication as he was being assessed for ASD.

It was quite easy, the paed was great and even the physical examination went ok.

She's only 2 and a half .. but my nephew (6) has asd as well as a few other issues like Tourettes. He started with normal progression and regressed around 2, then progressed and regressed further at about 3 and stuck at developmental age 18 month.

It's worrying me that they won't see how much she struggles or won't listen to us because at the moment she seems to be doing okay.

I think that, as a NT child at 2.5 would speak in sentences, they will not overlook the difficulties that your child has. If you can find the time, try to list your concerns on paper before you go in so that you don't miss anything out during the appointment. Be honest, and describe your worst day rather than your best. It's not very nice to have to focus on all the difficulties rather than the strengths, but that it what you need to do.

Our was a screening appointment essentially. Family history, any concerns and watching how dc interacted with toys and dr

Thank you there is a lot of of members of my family with asd and my OH family are still in a mindset like no-one in their family can have anything "wrong" with them (speaking in their words).

I was chuffed this morning DD answered a question in context I asked her generally "what do you want?" And she said "porridge" straight away.
But then we took the train to go shopping and everything changed she was just shouting "hello You alright" all day. Im the only person who can get her to talk with sense, and there's a sweet spot within the first 20 minutes of her waking up where she's calm and listens.. then she seems to go into overdrive.

I have paperwork to fill out to outline everything, I'll probably be better writing a list before i complete it properly.
Thank you

DD saw the dr today and we've been told to let her portage worker get to know her, see speech and language and look at nursery full time for her. She's being put forward for diagnosing with asd.
