Always saying she feels sick in social situations?

Anyone else experienced this? It may be as simple as me about to speak to her teacher at hometime, to large social gatherings, like family birthdays. Constantly saying she feels sick and constant drinking/toilet trips.

Hi Blossom

Yes - I'm sure it's anxiety related.
DS feels sick / has to have his water bottle / takes endless toilet trips.
He can sometimes even be sick (the worst was a few years ago when he had a spell of waking at 4am every morning and throwing up due to extreme school anxiety).

So really, as with most things, reducing anxiety is the key.

I feel anxiety related too. Dd is under assessment for ASD, is your little one diagnosed with anxiety or ASD at all?

Yes he's autistic.
I know from the boards you've been in limbo over a diagnosis for a long time which must be hard.
DS was under a paediatrician from age 2 but we didn't get a formal diagnosis until he was 5.
Even with a diagnosis though you are still left on your own really to find what works best for your DC.

DS struggles with any big social gathering so we have to do a lot of prep with him, make sure he gets time outside away from everyone and has access to an audiobook. And only do it when it's really necessary.

Also - if the teacher asks to see you straight after school feel empowered to say it will distress your DD too much so could they give you a ring at home instead.
