Tax credits & DLA

We’ve recently started to receive DLA for our son who has just been diagnosed with autism. We called the tax credits HMRC just to notify them of a change in circumstances. The man we spoke with said it should go up. So we check a week later online and it’s gone up by £40 per week. We just checked again and it says from July it’s going up to £100 per week which is £90 more we were getting. I honestly don’t see how this is right, theyve stitched us over before so I’m a bit suspicious. We asked if this is right and they said yes. I don’t understand why we would get more money if we are already on DLA.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. That is a major hike and makes us almost £400 better off a month. I just don’t wanna be caught short in the long run.

Hi, where you awarded higher rate care?
If so there is a severe disability part of child tax credits that would have been awarded. £100 a week does seem more than that though.

Having just looked at my award you get £60 extra for disabled child part and £24 for the severe element if receiving higher rate care.
Hope this helps

It is approx £90 extra if you get HRC
