Or should DC be referred to an ed psych?

They can do a CELF test that definitely includes working memory

Thank you Smile. Is there any benefit from going to a SALT vs an Ed Psych?

It’s hard to say because both have been very useful, but language is an issue for my son (rather than memory).
I’d say a decent salt would assess for difficulties and give you lots of games to play etc to improve the problems (although we’ve had to go private for this sort of treatment. NHS is not regular enough to make a difference here).
The ed phyc looks at the child as a whole and can see if there’s anything about the classroom that is distracting (eg. Sensitivity to noise etc), I think they play games with them to assess all sorts of things

If you can get school to pay for it I’d do both

As PP says, Celf includes a subtext on memory; but I suspect they look more at auditory memory. An ed psy can do more tests on memory like visual memory, immediate and delayed, etc.

DD has profound memory problems and language problems, with a long history of extensive testing by speech therapists and ed psy. The most in depth report on her memory problems was done by an ed psy, the LA's specialist in speech and language problems.

I'd say DC needs to have assessments from both.Is this for an EHCP needs assessment?
