Having a lot of issues with DD2's problems being pretty disregarded in terms of class teacher/SENCO time as other kids with needs in her class are more disruptive within the classroom so we're in a bit of a "those who shout loudest get most" situation regarding the school paying attention to us. Plus I think me being so on the case backfires on me somewhat as the SENCO seems to have decided I know my stuff and can work with the class teacher to just get stuff sorted for DD2 without much involvement from her (I usually suggest something and then it becomes used for 5 other kids around the school when it's found it helps generally!)
However at the same time I want stuff organised so we're consistent for next year as we've had problems this year with stuff slipping and me having to try to prompt things back in action - both classes next year that we could end up in are jobshares as well so the consistency angle is more of a factor... and I'd quite like some SENCO involvement in the planning for this - am I entitled to be asking for this when we're still mid-diagnosis (although I have a growing file of paperwork from various professionals saying that yep there are problems minor in the MN scheme of what others are dealing with and that there are problems sufficient that DD2 is getting put on therapy waiting lists left right and centre)? Obviously when we get the confirmation of which class teachers we'll be getting I want to meet with them as well - just getting a bit narked at the total lack of interest in DD2 from the SENCO of late and wanting to work out how far I'm reasonably entitled to push it so we remain on her radar too.
Not negative toward the school at all - they are (with a bit of gentle reminding sometimes) bloody fantastic - just trying to make sure that DD2 does not get to drift along totally under the radar like DD2 would blooming well like to be doing - she's got a tendency to be rather lost in a very very very challenging class (they mix the classes up a bit as well at least so the personalities should get more evenly shared out).
