Brainwave

I'm thinking of giving Brainwave in Somerset a go. Any thoughts on this?
DD has severe CP but my main concern is she has no hand/arm movment and no speech. If we could develop some hand control them she could play and wouldn't need constant entertainment. I don't think we'll ever get her sitting or anything like that but I'm hoping some arm stuff isn't too pie in the sky.
So any experience with them or stories would be great ta.

HI Bobalinga.

my son is 18 months old with Is and Williams syndrome ( Ive also chatted to you on Is forum!) We first took my son to brainwave 6 months ago and weve just taken him back for his re-assessment.

I have to say I love brainwave- the place and the staff are just fab.....i feel that doing the brainwave programme with my ds has really helped. On our recent visit they completely altered the programme due to his progress. I guess i will never know if his progress is due to these exerises or whether he would have progressed without them but I believe that they have been a great help. I always come back from braiwave feeling really positive.

I have to say that we do not do his programme everyday as suggested but we will do it 5 times a week maybe.

We've met many familes there that have been going for years and feel its definatly helped their dc.

Maybe it worth calling them for an informal chat or something. They have a pool which you have a session in and they also have music therapy.

I've rung them and they are going to put us on the waiting list. Apparently its 10 months long! Hopefully they can help. I remember getting all excited about conductive education but its really is for moderate to mild CP and not severe. DD failed totally at CE because she can't do anything physically, not just struggling doing it.

I think we were lucky in getting a cancellation and accepting there and getting there the very next day but any means possible....!

hehehe. We will need to hire a wheelchair accessible vehicle to gt there. Can't find anyone apart from some company up north that charges 400 quid a week!!!
