Hey not sure if I should post need advice New on here ( be nice )
I'm a single mum 2 boys age 11 & 10 no contact with father at all
My eldest son is autistic and my youngest son has a bowel condition he soils hiself which is very hard for him & for me he also doesn't sleep great he's been referred to speech & language for possible ASD also ...
I'm currently working 26 hours a week
Eldest has severe anxiety as well as autism we've recently jyst finished Cahms which did help slightly but cause of anxiety & his condition he worry's & stresses so have to take to & from school I wouldn't change either of them for the world but it's hard
All the appointments for both boys & juggling work ect is taking its toll on my own health
Also childcare is a nightmare is charging almost £100 a week
I get help with tax credits H/b ect but I'm struggling now housing are saying they've overpayed my landlord by £800
So my entitlement has gone down so now not getting no help with rent & c/tax which after paying childcare I'm struggling
It's hard having everthing on my shoulders and trying to work I'm having to take time off leave early for appointments
Considering giving up work but never not had a job so am worried about benefits or what I'd be entitled to if anything if I leave my job in the nhs
Thanks for reading xx

Hi. I work 19 hours over 3 days and I stuggled at times with appointments. Luckily my work is flexible so they let me make time up (I'm nhs too). My pension keeping me wanting to stay in work.

Let u know about benefits.

You can claim carers if working as you can deduct some childcare, private pension contributions and tax to bring you under the limit

do any of your DC get DLA? if it is at aleast middle rate care you would qualify for carers allowance (£64/week iirc). you would also get tax credits, housing and income support. might be worthwhile to see a benefits advidor to see how much you get in total. you may not really be worse off if you do not have the childcare costs. if you get carers allowance, you also clock to points for your pension. HTH.
