dd has just gone of to school crying...........why?
because it is cold and I have made her wear her hoodie.
ffs it is a hoodie not a torture instrument. yes i know she has cp and is delayed but what can you do. i refuse to give in and let her freeze.

I used to cry when I was made to wear a sweater thing in the sixties. It has got cold here too. Hope your day gets better.

coppertop · 08/05/2007 09:47

I know that feeling well. I have one ds who gets upset when it's too hot to wear his winter coat with the hood up, and one ds who wears T-shirts all year round and a thin jacket on top if persuaded/bribed/forced.

We have a teenage 'Saturday girl' in work who wears band tshirts all winter and came in on a hot day last week in a fleece. Had dd other plans for school today? I love it when we feel guilty having 'done the right thing'!

Oh, I do give in

Now that the unbroken month of sunshine has ended ds2 has gone to school in sandals and no socks, after being horrified and affronted by the very suggestion a couple of weeks ago

I'll no doubt be asking for sympathy when he's off school with a cold...

no. 1 fan - are you 2shoes? (This is like a game show!) My sil has cp amongst her vast range of difficulties, but I do find one of the hardest things to accept is that crying is her only form of communication. Does your dd have speech or electronics or anything to communicate?

mshadowsnumber1fan · 08/05/2007 12:26

yes I am.I thought you were descibing ds with the band t shirt post
she doesn't have speech as such but can communicate very well with her limited speech and signs and boy she just tells you.
good news is that the sw rang and they have agreed to increase our respite by 4 term time and 2 holiday

Do you enjoy respite? My mil refuses it, she has one daughter who she trusts with care of sil. What MIL needs is a carer one afternoon a week, and someone to drive her to the shops she wants to go to while FIL sits in a pub. And a voucher for afternoon tea, as that is a waste of money - if it was free she'd like it! But that ain't going to happen. Hope dd is a happy camper this afternoon.

mshadowsnumber1fan · 08/05/2007 17:18

she is and guess what she won't let me take the hoodie of.
yes i love respite. and she is happy there

LOL at her not letting you take the hoodie off!

stleger · 08/05/2007 17:21

Kids, eh!

2shoes · 08/05/2007 18:14

also she has been "nurse" today and came home with a rubber glove on. odd child

stleger · 08/05/2007 19:15

How is ds? Will you put the rubber glove on her tomorrow?

2shoes · 08/05/2007 22:13

no way I will hide them. you should try it putting them on wiggly hands(ds did it)

coppertop · 08/05/2007 22:16

I have visions of dd heading off to school in the morning wearing rubber gloves and a hoodie.

2shoes · 08/05/2007 22:17

i have visions of that as well.

DD2 went out with her dad on her birthday, 3 days before Christmas. People gave them odd looks in the shopping centre. She was wearing a sundress. She was 4, she chose the outfit. I don't know whatdh's excuse was!

2shoes · 09/05/2007 14:15

i cheated today(well it is my birthday) and put her new raincoat on
