When I'm out with DD2 in her wheelchair (severe CP, blind etc) we get a lot of 'awww, such a shame, but she's so pretty with lovely hair'
or the 'sympathetic smile' with 'she has beautiful hair though'
I'm itching to say 'yeah, that more than makes up for having CP!'
I know its not malicious but its does strikeme as weird.

Gess's son really is a looker, though!

'computing - the new basketweaving'
spat out my tea laughing, it's so true!!!
DS1 is autistic
'aaaah but he is so cute!'
'aaaah but he'll probably be very good with computers! And did you see that programme about that autistic guy who had a Phd or something? And there was one who was a Harvard professor?' Well whoopee.
'why does he need all that therapy? He is really clever with puzzles' This is usually from my mum. I try to tell her that he can't just do puzzles for the rest of his life and keep pooing his pants when he is 20, but she doesn't listen....

What most upsets me is when people say 'I'm so sorry. it must be so terrible for you'. Hard work, yes. But I would not exchange DS1 for half a dozen NT children, he is a star.

i also get annoyed at the isn't she beautiful about dd2 and dd3!! But very rarely does anyone say it about dd1 and she is gorgeous too.

and the usual - but they are so loving and happy all the time - yeh right.

Yes, I get that one too, he's so good and contented isn't he? Yes, he only screams his head off at home with me!
