DS2 could tolerate his foods touching, even slightly. Or if I could work out how to stop it sliding together on his plate....
Thats it once his food has touched he refuses the meal, even re-plating it doesn't help.

and if I knew how to help him cope with cuts & grazes, he falls often but he hates a graze or a cut & even after the first few hours of sobbing he asks constantly for me to take it away this can go on for days. he wont have a plaster, will sometimes tolerate cream but as soon as its no longer visible he asks for more, i've known this to go on all night!

Like I say not life & death or anything but sometimes its the small things that really test me!

Hi MMM... my DD has always been funny about her food touching. When we have wet food I put everything in seperate dishes or arranged it around the plate, ie a roast has to have the chicken in a seperate dish with gravy, then put on the plate, peas one side sweetcorn the other side and yorkshire pudds between them.. we have to have kitchen roll on the table to wipe her fork in between eating different foods, ie she will eat the chicken first (wipe fork to get off gravy)

Can't help with the grazes though... bless him...

How old is your DS...

Thanks Funmum, he's 4.5, he'll only have his dinner all on the one plate (has to be the same as us)I've tried one of those plastic divided plates but he won't go near it.
He went through a phase of only eating with clean cutlery but thankfully that has passed.
Once his food has touched, his plate gets shoved away, he sobs & drops to the floor.
Beans are terrible -slippery little beggers!

Mymatemax, have you tried the plates which have sections, I think I bought mine in woolworths. My ds is the same but he will tolerate different foods on the same plate if I use this.

X -post, ahh that's the type I meant.

FunMumm · 01/05/2007 21:24

oh bless him...
looks like you may have to try a plastic divided plate...

DD has got easier, when she was that age she only ate sandwiches, friends look at her now and think she is finiky with food but I think its acceptable... well compared to her not eating it is...

I even pinched the tray & divided plate from the plane last year as he ate from it, but once home wouldn't look at it. I have a cupboard full of cheap & stolen plates
