erm what do they look like?
Been to see ds1's paed today- he has some strange movements, which seem to be quite affected by the environment, but don't seem to be always fully in his control. She wants to rule out seizure actiivity although I think she thinks its unlikely (and I agree), but I was a bit useless when she was asking me about it all because I've only seen ds3 have absence and then full blown seizures in other children. I wouldn;t know a partial comlex or other unusual type if it happened right in front of me......

Thank you rd3

Do they medicate for complex partials? I can't imagine getting medication into ds1, and if a positive eeg would lead to no treatment it seems a bit pointless to give him one. Or are there other benefits. Oh god I klnow nothing about this- thank you for all your input.

I think they do medicate even for abscence seizures. I really hope so anyway. ds1 had his eeg today, so we're waiting for results now. They told me today that they do have sedatives that they use if necessary, so it might be worth looking into that. ds1 was actually really calm there, it was quiet and quite dark in there, so it wasn't too bad for him. The only bit that did worry him a bit was where they did the flashing lights and he started getting very fidgety and he was in a very bad mood for the rest of the day.

gess, we find it tricky getting meds into DD. we hide tablet (tiny) in cereal generally and it works most of the time. I have to say that DD has become calmer and more focused since going on sodium valproate for seizures. The consultant said that whilst you would not give a child with ADHD (DD's other diagnosis!) this to treat their ADHD it is a 'positive' side affect of the medication. She is on a low dose, I don't know what the effects of a higher dose would be. But since she started on it she can sit still on a chair (never been heard of) and is generally more 'aware' (when she's not got her hands down her throat!).

The video is on the web, so you wouldn't get a huge video cluttering up your inbox.
