May have asked this question before but had anyone seen a behavioural optometrist or have good recommendations of any in Middlesex/ Surrey / London?

Does anyone know what the difference is between a behavioural optometrist and a colourimetry assessment? My son has eye tracking problems and my other son has visual perception issues but not sure what.

In ni so cant recommend but I took middle dc with asd as he was having problems seeing school board even though normal optometrist said his eyes were fine.

She was brilliant and wouldn't have cost us anything as she performs kids eye test on nhs but I was getting second opinion. Discovered ds struggles to differentiate between lines of text as he was trying to read letters. He ended up with a mild prescription and we can gondola the route of colour therapy but it's pricey so waiting until hes older as he's only 6

These guys are amazing. If you have the visual ability test they test for everything including tracking and colour.
They have helped ds dramatically.
Expensive but worth every penny

I'm in Ni too but had this done with two of the Dc. Dd1 was 17 an has eye tracking issues and colour added to her glasses and is very aware what it does for her. Ds2 was 8 and isn't convinced and won't wear the coloured glasses but we did some eye tracking exercises via a website called engaging eyes for a while. Can't say if it necessarily helped or not.

He got glasses and his reading improved dramatically. He can concentrate longer and doesn’t complain about being too tired to read.
We are doing exercises to try and get his eyes to cross the midline. He didn’t need a colour. We are going back tomorrow for a check up.

I know quite a few people that have been there now and the recommendations have been completely different for all the kids but the difference it has made to them has been amazing.

Check up today went well. He can see much smaller letters that he could 4 months ago. (His eyes are not over focusing as much as before). We need to continue with the glasses and exercises for 6 months then go back again.

Good luck everyone. Keep us updated. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! it is v expensive but with my son he went from not being able to sound out c a t to reading fluetly, literally overnight. I hope you get the same effect!
