Does anyone know if I need to take out special travel insurance for ds2, who has cp? If so can you recommend any? Ooh and where can I insure his wheelchair. Wheelchair services have asked us to if we take it with us.
Tia.

Galaxy that would be great! I think I would need one that covers pre existing conditions, for ds2, and also for my epilepsy. Could you also ask if his wheelchair would be included in the insurance, or would I have to take out separate cover for it? Don't want to put you out if it is any trouble.

Hi Lou - I've just posted this on your other thread:

We've just booked for Disneyland Paris with Leger.

I told the travel agent about dd and she mentioned it to Leger during the booking. Leger gave her the tele/no of their insurance company and held on whilst the TA contacted the company. The phone was passed to me for me to answer questions for 'clearance'. I was asked about dd's diagnosis, whether she uses oxygen (not in our case), about her mobility and how stable she was on her medication. The insurance lady then agreed full cover for dd and gave me a reference number which was then conveyed to Leger.

It may of course be different from child to child, and company to company but I hope this helps (don't forget dd is not a wheelchair user).

Good luck!

Lou33 - I know you can get travel insurance that covers epilepsy as a pre-existing condition through epilepsy action (or at least the company details are on there - I'll try and link). Don't know if they would also cover other conditions but don't see why not. Also I remember there were some companies listed on contact a family - again, I'll try and give the link.

I think we are going with MBNA travel insurance. So much cheaper than the others for the same cover, and i get 10% off the quote if I pay using my mbna card.

Sorry to say Tesco were dire, the girl on the phone was as thick as two short planks and v unhelpful, and they were the most expensive at £285!

Mbna otoh, lovely boy, quoted me 143 before my discount.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Hi lou33 - do you have a number for MBNA insurance? Need to get cover for myself and dd and she has epilepsy. Thanks.
