Was really interesting. They attached all this special buttons to his skin and then filmed him with a special camera, which translated into a computer stickman Its to see how his muscles work and which ones don't work right.

wow never heard of that

we had something similar with a 'cushioned floor' with dd and a man filming..it's really interesting but they lost me when they started talking in all that 'posh jargon'...
would still like dd to have a gait analysis though!
how old is your ds now sparkly?

SparklyGothKat · 19/04/2007 21:55

he is 9 now, we had to go to this as the consulant wants to operate soon, and needs a full assessment of his movements.

he looked like a robot, with all the wires attached DS loved seeing the stickman version of himself, especially when the man let him speed up the walking lol

Thinking of you. I didn't like trying to be brave when my dd was in hospital, but you do have to, don't you?

Is the consultant nice and tell/explain and talk to him too?

SparklyGothKat · 19/04/2007 22:01

yes we saw the consulant last month, DS wasn't really interested in what she had to say though. He knows he will be having an operation soon. We recieved a letter a few weeks ago saying that she thinks DS is a good canditade (sp??) for the operation, but she will be mainly releasing his left leg with slight tenon release on the right

Its scary, especailly as you have to put a brave face on. All I wanted to do was crumble, but we got through it.

dd had 2 ops locally and her last was in Alder Hey, who were totally brilliant. It still makes me feel sick inside as I think of it all.

So I will be thinking of you.

we have just been told that if dd's stretch programme is not enough (and we have a 5 month limit) then she will be having her left hamstring stretched and put in cast for 9 weeks(returning every 2 weeks or so to be re stretched and re cast) and then 7-14 days as an in patient for intense physio for dd as she is only 6(nearly 7 )and has worked so hard(like all our children have to)to be as mobile as she is...

i am going into school to see her physio today(she only visits once a half term)to get her to detail the stretch in a care plan unless the lsa is not allowed to do any stretches with dd(health+safety)

Best wishes to your ds sparkly - let us know when he has the op so we can send things to cheer him up!!

that will be nice chatee. He will be in hospital for 2 weeks (i believe) and will be laid up at home in plaster for a while too, so books and games will be greatly accepted
