She absolutely hates it.
Screams the place down if any of us in the family sing.
I just can't understand why.
She is nearly 8 and has AS.

Ds2 hates other people singing too.

I think it's often the pitch of the voice as much as the actual volume. My hearing is terrible but female singing voices are actually painful to me.

Does it help if the singing is done with a slightly deeper voice?

Not tried it tbh coppertop

She just puts her hands over her head and screams stop singing.

Same if there is music on and I start to dance. She cannot stand it.

I am guessing it is sensory related...

It could be hypersensitive hearing (Dh, ds1 and ds2 all have this). Does she hate all kinds of music? I've found that ds1 adores classical music. He apparently likes using his super-hearing to pick out all the different sounds and instruments. Dh likes it for similar reasons. I can't tolerate it much myself.

Both of my DSs with AS (Aged 8 and 18) hate people singing. DS5 (the 8 year old) used to have a real fear of the "singing" asemblies at achool-still not keen on them! He does like classical music like your DS though CT-as does DH.

"assemblies" even!

DS1 hates certain kinds of music - sad songs particularly and also 'the Lonely Goatherd' from the Sound of Music for some reason .I don't think it can be pitch with him - he loves the Dr Who theme tune (listening to it and singing it). He doesn't enjoy singing at school but puts up with it now. However, his teacher sent him home once in Reception when they were rehearsing a show about 'Poor Billy Bee Who Lost His Buzz' - he couldn't stop crying and said he felt 'floppy and hot and strange'. She thought he was ill!

I've always thought it was his sensitive nature but we are becoming more aware that he has AS traits so it could be linked.

DS (Aspergers) has always hated poeple singing. Screamed non stop. Now he's 13 he tells people to shut up. Used to lash out too when younger to make them stop.
Oddly enough he's now learning the keyboard.
