I thought I understood it all. Middle rate and high rate care you get things like carers allowance, disability element of child tax credit etc. Lower rate care you get your dla and that's it.
Ds1 gets lower rate care, has done since 2015. this morning we got a letter from hmrc saying he should be getting the disability element of child tax credits for him and they are putting the money in our account, backdated to April this year. I phone hmrc to check at they say yes that's correct.
I can't find anything online to say either way, just a load of stuff about how the disability part of tax credits is the most complicated and even the advisors get it wrong, which doesn't really fill me with confidence. I'm worried they are going to pay us all this money and then say there has been a mistake and we have to pay it all back.
