High functioning autistic Schools in Crawley area

Hi we are thinking of moving to the Crawley (West Sussex) area as currently living in Wiltshire but our high functioning autistic (not aspergers) son's brilliant resource base unit in mainstream school is closing at Christmas (also my husband now works in London, so figure fate is trying to tell us something ). We initially looked to moving to Surrey as heard the county specialised in autism but proving to be impossible finding a resource based unit there (even by trying to wait until sept 2018). Just wondered if anyone could recommend or advise on the schools around West Sussex area? Many thanks for any advice.

The priory schools maybe what you are looking for but they are very expensive so counties are often reluctant to cough up.
There are also schools like Northease Manor. Has had a bit of a checkered past. Read mumsnet threads. I have no personal experience so can’t comment. St Dominic’s is another option.
Are you looking for a specialist school or resource base?

Crawley isn't the nicest of places. Are you looking for local authority schooling or able to pay privately? Is there an EHCP in place? All this makes a massive difference. Its all ASD now btw. The only difference between the old dx of HFA & Aspergers is that HFA had speech delay & AS did not, but basically same thing. Nowadays the AS label isn't used in new dx but a higher functioning individual would be called "high functioning" regardless of any speech delay.

LVS Hassocks, Woodlands Mead, Northease. All depends on severity and as PP said if you're paying or hopefully no to get funding with EHCP. Think it's West Sussex (North) LA who cover Crawley. Their SENDIS team in Chichester hold a
List of schools so I'd give them a buzz and have a chat and then go view some.
