Hi all,

Dd (6 and a half) still can't alternate feet very well, walking downstairs. She can lead very well with her left foot only. What causes this?

Maybe dyspraxia- which my son has and he does the same thing- but you’d need to ask a specialist, someone like an occupational therapist could do an assessment.

A few years ago, she had an OT do a Motor and Processing assessment and she scored rather low. I think her anxiety made her seem more awkward and slow though, but I think there probably are some delays in that area.

She is under assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder and we have mentioned about the alternating of feet and awkwardness in steps but they don't seem particularly interested?! It prompted them to ask if there is a history of dyslexia in the family - none which we are aware of....
