Mitchel - he has mild left hemi cp and in the past yr has lost control of bladder and to an extent - bowel, now been diagnosed with neuropathic bladder and bowel.

2shoes - thats a good idea, its london that are 'masterminding' the catheterisation. Many thanks for posting on the other forum. x

Hi, I didn't see this thread when it came up originally, but 2shoes brought it to my attention. We've been doing intermittent catheterisation on ds1 since he was 6 months old - he's 3 now. He has spina bifida, and a 'saggy bladder' (I'm sure that's not the medical terminology, but hey ho!). If you want any advice, or experiences, I'm happy to share! By the way, ds is totally unbothered by it, I don't think he can feel it much at all, and it's just become routine to him.

This might sound ignorant, but if a child has lost bladder control why not nappies instead of catherterisation? My DD has severe CP and wears nappies. I'm guessing she is classed as incontinent.
What is catherisation for. Excuse my not knowing.

Thank you mum2seb, i do have questions and will post tmro with them if thats ok?

Bobalinga - My ds' bladder is being damaged my the incontinence, and that is now impacting on the kidney function the docs feel, that's why he needs to get out of nappies. That coupled with the fact that he was dry for 2 yrs, so is very distressed by going back into them. It has been a big shock to all as his cp is mild.
