swearing

DS (11) swears sometimes if he is very stressed. We don't use any poor language but unfortunately now the reality of starting secondary school is that it is all around him. On the school bus etc. He has ADHD and asd traits and I am concerned about this side of him. He's also very snappy with us if we correct him and then very apologetic and disappointed with himself afterwards. Can't relax anywhere we go and constantly worried about him

Yes because it could get him into a lot of trouble. He does it impulsivity

If he's not swearing at people it shouldn't matter, what you are currently doing seems very detrimental if he's spending time afterwards disappointed and not being able to relax.

Honestly you get used to it. Iv three that swear like troopers - unfortunately my middle dc picked up many words in reception from fellow sen kid. First I was mortified. Now I remind them it not appropriate and then ignore

I nearly crashed my car when my 11yo ds announced he hated school because "it's full of dickheads and cunts" BlushShock

Then i realised he hadn't hurt himself or anything and so the swearing was progress!

I just tell him to do it appropriately and not at people. We are working on it.
