Dd2 has unclear speech though her language is only slightly delayed (she is 5) and usually Dd1 and I understand her but others don't get it first time (even school have admitted to 3/4 time)

Tonight had to get her to repeat something 3 times and got dd1 to help me as she was getting upset and then eventually she showed us.
Its the first time in about 2 years neither of us have understood her and the first time it has actually bothered her

Just wanted to share

Yeah was onec a term (when I phoned and nagged) then was going to be done at school and when I queried how often it was hapening in Jan school said they had thought she was seen at clinic as the SALT had told them all her kids were seen at clinic
Anyway since then the SALT has seen her 3 times (at least) and has had a meeting with me about it.
Just seems to have gone down hill loads in the last couple of days , thinks its the hayfever back and her hearing is going too ( will have to start meds again-dd1 has been on hers a while)

Translations- I realised Iwas doing it subconciously all the time and repeating everything.SALT has told me not to do it, to say I don't thing X has understood can you say it again.

She have never been upset by it at all before though-shows she is actually becoming aware of the problem.

How old is DS?

Oh I really really empathise. Ds1 is 4 and has moderately delayed speech and although he doesn't get bothered when others don't understand him, when it's me he is so upset

She doesn't seem aware that she says things differently.

Mam came round this am and she sees them every day yet as soon as dd2 left the room she said why is her speech so bad today
She was also very loud yesterday when talking so think it must be sinus/hayfever again , would happen on BH w/e as by Tues the meds will have kicked in and noone will hear her at her worst .

SALT is very good just when she was younger dd2 didn't really cooperate (still doesn't at home) to do any exercises.School are pushing for help too (she has just had a nother hearing test because they referred her and she has now passed 5!+ 2 dodgy ones)

Update-
Spoke to SALT on Tuesday, she advised seeing GP as soon as we could to get it logged at least. She is applying for statutary funding (if anyone can explain that) when she goes back to school as she is making progress but it is very slow and she wants her to do more in school.
Saw GP yesterday and he spent ages (well it was a registar being assessed so was being very attentive) examining her and asking questions , he commented again about large tonsils/adenoids, and when he looked in her ears ,straight away said 'Glue ear' which is one of the things we have said for ages and has never been diagnosed (usually improved by the time we get there). For now she has a spray as well as her normal meds and has to go back in a month.
