How can I make sure ds1 gets the most out of Group Speech Therapy sessions?

Due to a lot of factors, my trust in ds1's speech therapist is not high. I don't trust her ability to engage him, and I don't trust her to do something about his problems if it looks like hard work to her

He has 'moderately delayed speech' and little impulse control for his age - he's 4, but quite toddler like.

has anyone's child had group therapy at this age, and what should we expect?

Hi Colditz, unfortunately no experience of group speech therapy hear (like goldust) but ds2 has weekly group OT.
He is in a small group of similar ability children & were given a list of areas they are concentrating on.
At the end of each session the OT gives us some feedback & similar exercises/tasks to carry on at home, I have been able to suggest different approaches with him when they have said he's struggled with something that I know he is capable of.
Also the advantage to group therapy is that there is more than one therapist if this is the case with your ds it may give you the opportunity to discuss him with a different SALT!
hth, as not sure if group SALT is a similar set up or not.
