School Uniform

Has anyone else had experience of school saying that polo shirts have to be tucked in? DD has issues getting the "right" type of school shirts (have to be soft) and trousers, and complains about them being itchy when tucked in.

The school have just got a new headteacher, so I'm not sure if this is a new policy being introduced, but it wasn't mentioned last year.

Should I speak to her teacher and/or the head?

Yes we had this issue. Ds couldn't cope with his shirt tucked in due to OCD fears.
This was in secondary so he was given a card which said he didn't need to tuck his shirt in which he could show to any teacher who challenged him.
In primary, I would have thought a word with the teacher or SENCO should be enough. Altering the uniform to take account of additional needs is a 'reasonable adjustment'.

Thanks, will see if we can have a chat with her teacher tomorrow.

Ds can't cope with it. Sensory ot said mustn't make him in report and EHCP clearly states to follow the report.
His Camhs clinical pysch has also contacted school about it after ds spent many sessions obsessing over not taking his blazer off in 30° heat "in case someone tells him to tuck his shirt in".

Clinical pysch said it's very clear when it crosses from a 'don't like' into an anxiety driven thought that occupies the mind and affects ability to learn and manage the day.
