Hi any advice? Would you appeal or see how it goes? I'm using a non-amended (I think inaccurate) plan to choose a secondary school. LEA have said he's ok for mainstream. Plan gives 33 hours of support.
My DS is in Year 6. He has a visual impairment, dyslexia and processing issues but is also high IQ. This past year he has developed horrendous anxiety, mostly about school but it also affects him at home and in his general life. At its worst, he can't leave the house. He had a term of half days and a half term not attending school at all, because he was so ill.
At his Year 5 EHC review the LEA are refusing to amend the plan to add anxiety, despite a letter from the GP. They have also refused the LEA Ed Psych to assess him again.
They have also refused to amend 'school staff to provide resources' to 1:1 TA (1:1 is working well at the moment.)
Should I appeal? Should I just choose a mainstream secondary, even though he's struggling to cope at Primary? LEA have said that they won't part fund a special school but they will look at EHC again before secondary school starts. I feel as if I'm being fobbed off. What do you think? Thanks x
