Dd is struggling with her Clarks shoes (tried various pairs) - also start rite. She is currently in plimsols as comfy - but her feet are aching today and I guess they're not v waterproof! She hates other pumps/trainers and wears sandals ( only one pair) - tricky

What do u do/any advice?

Thanks!

gel activ insoles

Schools aimed at boys are often much more comfortable than those aimed at girls. It might be worth checking if she needs orthotics.

School shoes aimed at boys...

Mogtheanxiouscat · 07/09/2017 22:09

My dd is seriously sensitive in her feet. Hates socks. Lucky if we find any shoes she will wear. Currently has a pair of school shoes and pair of wellies. That's it.

She can't manage slip on shoes or buckles and her feet are getting too.big for many Velcro styles.

Problem I have with Clarks etc is that no matter how many times I tell them she needs to wear shoes that are technically too big for her, they give me the same old story of how they have to sell ones that fit properly. So I end up scouring all the supermarkets. One year Asda did a random really wide pair, then Matalan, then we found wide ones at Next. Asda again this term.

So no helpful advice I'm sorry. Just feel your pain. Oh the money I've lost in unworn shoes.

Agree with polter ...
Mine all wear orthotic insoles, makes a HUGE difference to their aches and pains. And boys shoes are much more sturdy than girls - orthotics also fit much better in boys than girls. Clarks now do a sensory footwear range for children but I've not seen them yet as mine are too old for Clarks now.

Thanks all. I asked Clarks about the new sensory shoes they are doing and they know nothing?!!?

Been and bought various shoes for DD to try, keeping receipts!!! Clarks today let me go slightly bigger size size. Dd wasn't there but recently had feet measured. I explained issues, although guy was new so perhaps he shouldn't have let me, who knows!!!

Dd is wearing socks inside out which helps - but such problems this morning!

Take a look at Skechers memory foam shoes, DD very sensory and myself sensory and fibromyalgia are finding them wonderful

Mogtheanxiouscat · 08/09/2017 16:08

We also do inside out socks.

Have bought the expensive seamless ones. But she has issues with those too.

Blossom4538 · 08/09/2017 16:49

I think inside out ones work for us and just have a niggling feeling that she wouldn't like the expensive sensory socks - may still try at some point though!

Today, I've tried Startrite, Clarks (again), M&S and Asda school shoes on DD....guess which she found the most comfortable...!!! 😆

Dd has accepted memory foam sketchers in the past

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 09/09/2017 14:35

I literally just came here to start this thread! DS has rejected his startrites.

I'm going to go take a look at Stetchers- thanks.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 09/09/2017 14:49

Does anyone have the Clarks Hula Gos? If so, could I ask if the tongue is soft?

Fobber · 10/09/2017 10:46

DD wears Skechers memory foam trainers most days (but our school allows any colours, so not sure if that works with your uniform code).

Our problem when buying shoes is that they insist on selling us shoes with "growing room" (financially a better option, yes) but DD can only wear shoes that fit just right, so we just have to buy new ones more often. Still cheaper than buying shoes she won't wear...

Msqueen33 · 10/09/2017 22:38

My youngest is four and refused all types of shoes for over 7 months. I spent tons of shoes. She's very very feet sensory. She thank god tolerates skechers now and wears black skechers to school.

Schroedingerscatagain · 11/09/2017 22:20

For any of you looking at Skechers, if you have a MacArthur glen outlet near you check if they have a Skechers store (east mids does) I've had them for nearly half price so worth a trip
