Can any one assist or make any suggestions. My son is 12, he was diagnosed (finally) last September and since then we have not received any help. He has ASD (PDA traits) and ADHD. His diagnosis was arranged by the local complex case team after a mistake by the GP and their department with NHS funding but via a private psychologist. This seems to be a big issue for getting him a pediatricians referral for medication, we have been turned down on several occasions now and the last rejection letter states that we have a private diagnosis 'with all due respect to the professional involved' we dont not believe the diagnosis so will not see him. My sons mental health has declined, he refuses school, his anxiety levels are through the roof, he will not leave the house, is afraid of everything. His inappropriate side (obsessions etc) has escalated as have his mood swings. CAMHS have seen him but are worse than useless, failing to assist on any level even though they feel he needs medication but said we need a referral to a pediatrician (so basically going around in circles). Everything CAMHS have instigated has been rejected by other agencies. CAMHS just seem so ineffectual!! At the end of my tether so any suggestions please?

Have you contacted the complexcase team directly? I'd be making lots of harassing phone calls and making myself a pain - sadly only way yo get things done at times.

Is there a specific adhd diagnosis team in your trust? We have a specific adhd umbrella team here - could try and contact them?

Thank you for replying. The complex case team here dont actually see children and the lady who helped us no longer works there. I will look into a specific team though. All referrals go through a "triage team" so getting to speak to anyone is a nightmare as they will only speak to the referrer. I do understand the need to badger, its how we got the CAMHS appointment. Recently turned down by the Early help team as they state he is being supported by CAMHS. Have had 2 appointments at CAMHS where we had to remind the woman who we were and our issues in the second meeting, she says 1 thing, school says another....I would really like to know where this so called support is!!! Back to the phones tomorrow

I got my second dc a referral through gp to a triage team and they rang me to discuss dc issues and then got put on waiting list for adhd team. Not sure if this would work if gp messed up before

Apply for an EHCP. You might be able to get more support in place at school and reduce the anxiety so reduce the need for meds long term. It sounds difficult for you all - good luck
