Ds2 is going a little downhill. He has wet himself twice at Nursery this week and he has been dry for a long time. His behaviour is getting really challenging again after a lull. On an up note though DD has spoken so maybe her speech/communication problems arent going to be too bad she now calls me not mama or mumum or mummy but she calls me Claire lol.

Yeah it is. Very hard to cope with when you think all is going well.

Did you get any circumstance to his accidents? did he forget? or just not get there in time? dd1 often has them because she is so engrossed in what she is doing she forgets (she has ASD)

He has asd too. As i wasn't there when it happened I don't know what the circumstances were. He won't use a strange toilet but he has been using it happily there now for a while, he was only funny for the first couple of weeks. I will keep a close eye on him over the weekend. His behaviour is just awful he does things that are dangerous like putting a carrier bag over his head and laughs hysterically. Of course it's rare he can get hold of one but anything will do, he wraps the blind cord around his neck, jumps from the top of the stairs to the bottom - he climbs over the stair gates, running into the road, all whilst laughing and getting really amused. I can;t take my eyes off him. I know damaging things will be next gauging, ripping, trapping his sisters fingers in the door or drawers. We had a long spate of this from May until October last year but things then improved slowly and now back to square one. It is getting harder to explain things to him too he just doesnt seem to understand. He also had started using 'you' and 'me' but now it's back to Jack and Mummy again. Very sad.

Its so hard for us mums of ASD kids, they can be very dangerous and yes, you can never take your eyes off them for a moment. I was recently at a meeting in school about my dd, and they suggest that if simplified language and key word instruction does not help, then using a visual prompt, e.g a stop sign, can prove positive and achieve some results. For dd, it does help at home and makes her a bit more manageable.
