Hi, sitting here upset as ds has appointment tomoorow and weve decided well accept offer of special needs buggy and maybe even the respite care weve been offered. Just feel like ive failed as a mum. Cant help feeling that if he hadnt been a prem baby he would of been ok. Its just hard to accept that hes regressed so much so quick

Hi, sorry youre feeling so bad. How old is your DS? Who is the appointment with?

Maybe the respite will help by giving you some breathing space. And never feel like youve failed. Prematurity isnt your fault.

Sorry, not much help Im afraid, but didnt want your thread to just sit there.

ds1 goes to respite and loves it- in fact I have to remember not to tell him too early where he's going or he's screaming to get out of the door. When you have SN your world can become very narow. Respite etc broadens it which has to be good thing. I felt funny putting him in as well, but can see now how good its been for him.

Hi, Oh please don't feel bad it is not your fault... My ds2 was a prem baby too & we've been using a sn buggy for a few months now. I Put it off for ages, in the end just went for it, head held high pushed him around our very small town, got the stares out of the way.. & a bonus he loves it, generally falls asleep within 5 mins, or maybe thats just me boring him.
Good luck with the appointment.

Hi, thanks for all your support. Just not sure how hed cope with respite. As he needs his routine. He finds it hard to cope if nursery is shut for holidays, or if his meals are different times. etc. With the buggy its hard because as well as being asd hes adhd as well and up until a few months ago, hed never sit still and always want to be outside. Now hes just hysterical if we try to get him to walk and on the occasions that he does walk, he keeps falling and hurting himself. Just feels like hes regressing back so quick with things, i.e feeding himself, etc
