it's the same old chestnut again - all the testing focused on DS - like it's the no.1 disability that should be detected or something. And all these bloody odds.
Sorry for whingeing. It just gets me down a bit.

(good job I have my very perfect dd2 with DS here who is tucking into her dinner with the occasional exclamation of 'yummy chicken!' )

I do agree even though I'm not a mum of a child with DS. When I refused the offer of an amnio the doctor asked me why and I told her "There are a lot worse things to worry about than Downs syndrome" and she was visibly surprised. She did agree with me though .

I'm sorry if my posting has upset you in any way. I did have CVS, but only because I wanted to know if I was carrying a child with DS, not because I wouldn't want to have one.

As I said I still do not know for certain what I would have done if one of my daughters had been confirmed as having DS. It was just such a worrying time for me.

My best friend has a daughter who has severe learning dissabilities and she attended a school where she mixed with lots of children that had DS. Whenever I went to any award ceremonies there it was always such an inspiring and enjoyable experience. She is 20 now and attends college where I believe their are some adults with DS. I helped her get ready for her prom last summer and it was lovely being involved. They had a brilliant time dressing up in fancy clothes and travelling in limos.

I had an amnio because my daughter came up high for DS. She didn't have DS but I would like to have known in advance if she did. My philosophy is to be forewarned is to be prepared.
