Feeling awful this evening -

Sorry, just need to vent.

First week back to school and we're all so stressed and exhausted. Only been back 4 days.

Feel so upset and angry with ourselves - DD has played up massively this evening, been aggressive towards us, despite us trying to create a nice relaxing evening for her. We haven't handled it well.

Also, feeling that our new pet is creating some anxiety, when she was supposed to reduce anxiety. It's been quite stressful.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but adding a pet to a stressed environment with a child struggling is risky.

When you say 'creating a nice relaxing evening' maybe your plans are coming across as demands? What's relaxing for you or for most children just might not be for your dd.

For the future, if you get to Friday morning and it feels like she's near tipping point don't send her to school, phone and say she is exhausted and anxious and needs to relax. And if school is having such a big impact they need to support her better.

Sorry it's so hard Flowers

Dd is struggling massively this morning! I'm pretty sure she has ASD (Aspergers) - no diagnosis as yet.

Saturdays are just hellish - I guess with tiredness and excitement of weekend, perhaps anxiety build up during the week. As soon as there's a change really. First few days of a school holiday is always awful.

I would home school but not sure it would work. Anyone's little ones on restricted timetables/attend part time? Do u need a diagnosis or ehcp?

We have anxiety, Selective Mutism and poss sensory issues as diagnosis. No ehcp - copes at school with some support. She is under assessment for ASD.

Have you read about creating a low arousal environment? I wonder (and I mean this kindly) if you trying too hard and just not relaxing enough. From previous posts I've picked up that she's quite a sparky, bright, quirky little girl who knows what she likes, can you just roll with it?
